When Gordon Limb arrived at the Lidl supermarket in Gloucester at 05:00hrs he found two wheelie bins blocking his entry. When he got out two men appeared and tried to take his keys. However, Limb used his training to fight them off and they fled in a waiting Ford Sierra. Despite receiving cuts to the hands and a gouge to the leg, the WestonSuper-Mare driver, who was working for Avon driver agency Transtaff, refused hospital treatment and carried on to the Cheltenham store to make his next delivery. He went for treatment when a replacement driver became available.

"It all happened so quickly and at the time I wasn't aware they had a knife but afterwards I had several cuts so they must have had some sharp Instrument," he says.

Gloucester Police praised Limb but warned others not to put themselves In danger to defend property.

The attack happened on Sunday 9 July, Police want to talk to two black men, one with an almost shaven head, the other with dreadlocks. Both were wearing jeans.
