river Roy Boon has retired from Isle of Wight transport company, Vectis Transport after 25 years. But he's not out
to grass yet —his leaving present included a mower to ensure he is kept busy in retirement. And his wife Jenny has lined up a number of jobs round the home that should keep him out of mischief for a while.
Island born Roy had a colourful working life before joining Vectis in 1970. A bricklayer by trade, he went on to serve five years in the Royal Artillery—three of these in Hong Kong. Returning to the Island in the 1950s he worked for a coal and aggregates transport finn and later helped build Albany Prison, Vectis chairman Christopher Bland told Roy he had been "an excellent representative of the company".
