AUSTRIA Roadworks Al: Various between Salzburg and Vienna. (Nov).

Due to heavy roadworks on the Al: Western approaches to Vienna, it is suggested traffic use the A21 south of the city if at all possible until further notice. Bulletin Trucks will be barred from the rapid entry and exit lanes at the Kieferafelden motorway customs in Austria during the 1989 summer holiday peak period.

The periods of closure are as follows: O Rapid Export Traffic I: from Monday 24 July at 06:0Lllirs continuously until Sunday 27 August 1989 at 22:00hrs.

O Rapid Export Traff II— Ramps 3 and 1: from Thursday 3 August at 06:00hrs continuously until Sunday 20 August at 22;00hrs.

O Rapid Import Traffic I: from Friday 30 June until Friday 7July and from Friday 25 August until Sunday 3 September, during weekends from Friday at 13:00hrs until Sunday at 22:00hrs. From Fnctay 14 July at 13:00hrs continuously until Sunday 27 August at 22:00hrs.

Be ready for extra traffic during school holidays (1 July-10 September) and public holiday (15 August).

BELGIUM Roadworks N4: Between Bastogne and Arlon. (UFN)

E313: Near Paal Junction (26). (UFN)

E17: At Gentbrugge Viaduct in direction of Kortrijk near Aalst (LPN).

E25: At Mabompre near La Rothe en Ardenne (UFN). At Lienieux in Liege direction (UFN).

E40: Near Aalst and between Vlierzele and Hekelgem (night only).

E19: Between Wauthier-Braine and Nivelles for 101on in Mons direction. Work to be carried out in three stages (to 16 July, 1-16 August and 17 August-4 September).

E42: At Rhisnes, north of Namur: repairs to viaduct. (UFN) E411: At Champion, north of Namur.

Ni/RIO: At Berchan-L (UFN) Bulletin School holidays (1 July-31 August) and public holidays (21 July and 15 August) will increase congestion. E25 Liege-Arlon: A section of this motorway between Vaux-sur-Sure and Longlier opened on 29 June. This now joins the E25 and E411 at the Longlier Neufchateau interchange.

FRANCE Roadworks

A15: At Rouen — both directions. N89: Clermont Ferrand — Bordeaux. Various, along entire stretch which is being upgraded to dual carriageway (1994),

Paris Boulevard Periphenque — Various lane closures. N186: North of Orly airport — Diversifying at Thiais. (4 Sept) A40: Motorway construction. N202: East of Digne at Annot. A55: North of Marseille. (15 Sept). D982: At several points along this road between Lillebonne and Rouen. (INN) A26: At Nord Ausques in both directions. Diversion via N43. A20: Alternating traffic for one month in area of Porte-Puymorens. (mid-July)

N91; In vicinity of La Grave between Grenoble and Briancon. Tunnel closed between 22:00hrs and 06:00hrs except weekends. (22 Dec)

A22: Gent — Lille at Rondin and Wasquehal N43: Heflin Beaumont, diversions in town due to construction work. N45: At Denain to the west of Valenciennes, alternating traffic (28 July).

Bulletin Heavy traffic moving south from the major cities from Friday afternoon. The A6, A7, A10, A13, N6, N7, N10, A9 and A86 will be 'Marty busy and delays are ely.

The All between Le Mans and La Fleche is open. This makes it possible to drive (mostly toll motorway) from Calais via the Paris Peripherique to Nantes (southern BrittanyNendee).

A31 south of Tout avoiding Dijon now open. This toll-free motorway makes It possible to avoid Dijon. There is restricted access into Dijon from the new section so watch for signs.

A7 section south of Salbris to Bourges, a distance of 571cm has opened. Toll is 19FF. The section south of Bourges to \Talton en Sully is scheduled to open in December, so closing the gap.

The 1990 Bison Fute map (French holiday route information) is now available at AA centres. It shows when and where bottlenecks are predicted at peak holiday

periods. This map is also available at port offices and French customs points.

Toll prices have increased on the Be de Re causeway. Lorries up to 13 tomes cost 110FF, over 13 tonnes and up to 26 tomes 243FF, and over 26 tomes 336FF.

Congestion will be caused by the Tour de France (1-23 July); reaching Paris on 23 July; public holiday on 15 August and school holidays (30 June-3 September).

A new upgraded "Super" petrol will be available on many forecoFts. Nicknamed "SuperSuper", the new grade will be available in both leaded and unleaded versions and has an octane rating of 97-98 instead Of the traditional "Super" grade's 95. GERMANY

Roadworks Al: Several sections to north-east and south-west of Hamburg, (UFN) A2: Several sections between Bottrop to Gladbeck.

A3: East of Offenbach (Aug).

A4: South of Köln (Oct).

A5: Near Offenbach.

A6: Several sections to the east of Marmheim. (UFN) A8: Miinchen (Sept) with A27 at several points.

A39: Near Salzgitter. (Oct). A49: At Kassel south motorway crossroads with A44.

Bulletin

Very heavy traffic expected this weekend. Congestion expected on A5, A8, A3, Al and in Munchen and the Köln/Dusseldorf area. At its worst on Friday afternoon and evening, but likely to be busy throughout the weekend and on Monday.

Border crossing into Austria and Switzerland and will be very busy.

Congestion will also be caused by school holidays at various times until 11 September. Regions as follows: Nordrhein-Westfalen: 22 June-5 August. Rheinland-Pfalz: 29 June-9 August Saarland: 29 June-14 August. Schleswig-Holstein: 13 July-26 August.

Hamburg and Hessen: 17 July-28 August.

Bremen and Niedersachsen: 20 July-30 August.

Berlin: 20 July-20 August. Bayern: 27 July-11 September.

The German Grand Prix will all affect traffic on 30 July in the Hockenheim area (near Speyer or east bank of Rhine).

ITALY Roadworks A22: Brenner — Bolzario. (UFN) A24: Between Villa Vomano and Teramo, east of L'Aquila. Tunnel closed between 20:00hrs and 07:00hrs. Diversion. (UFN) Bulletin Chiasso border crossing near Como continues to delay commercial traffic — tourists still passing through with little delay.

Traffic will be affected by schcx holidays (18 June-18 September) and a public holiday (15 August).

On-the-spot fines can now cost up to £150 for parking and movirn traffic offences and must be paid i local currency. Rome and Milan have now introduced the wheel clamp.

NETHERLANDS Roadworks A2: South west of Eindhoven at Waalre Junction. (29 Sept). South west of Eindhoven at Weer (25 Aug).

A6: North of Lelystad at Ketelbrug. (1 Dec).

A7: On Afsluitdijk Causeway. (27 July).

A15: East of Rotterdam at Junctic with A16. (1 Nov).

A342: Near German border crossing at Denekarnp. Traffic advised to use the Oldenzaal crossing.

Al2: Between junction Oudernrlin and the Galecopperbridge near Utrecht (Eastbound).
