• A South JUI who was too Wales haulier busy to attend ; new operator's seminar after being granted a three-vehicle licence last May has had his licence suspended Kenneth Caldwell of Llanhil leth, Gwent appeared before South Wales Licensing Authoi ity John Mervyn Pugh followir the imposition of a prohibition notice on his one operational vehicle and a conviction for a defective tyre.
Caldwell said he had turned down the invitation to the seminar because he was too busy, as he was driving himself. The LA said that was thi worst possible excuse. As a result of his non-attendance, Caldwell had got into trouble. Caldwell said the vehicle had been inspected every four weeks by a commercial garag He had since sold the vehicle, and though he had no vehicler at present, he wished to retai his licence. He had started of under-financed and he had made the mistake of buying a older vehicle.
Suspending the licence unti such time as Caldwell obtaine a vehicle, Mervyn Pugh said that when he asked for the suspension to be lifted Caldwi would be put on a proper sys tern of maintenance.
