• She!yoke Dempster, the Letchworth-based manufacturer of refuse collection vehicles and road sweepers, is up for sale following the "corporate restructuring" by its US-based parent company Krug International.
Krug, which acquired Shelyoke Dempster five years ago, is winding up its industrial and engineering divisions in the US and the UK and is keen to sell "to an organisation with sufficient resources to ensure that the programme already in place at Letchworth will be completed without disruption".
Meanwhile, the company has won almost 2 million worth of orders in the last few days, including one for fourteen 24tonne refuse collection vehicles from Derby City Transport.
