• INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY SUPPLIES TATTERSALL Jack Tattersall has become after-sales and service manager of Industrial Machinery Supplies, the UK agent for a variety of truck and trailer equipment including SAF air suspensions, George Fischer wheels and Groeneveld ACL systems.

Prior to this he spent 17 years at the Davies Magnet group, where he dealt with sales and service of fifth-wheel couplings, landing legs and other trailer equipment. He has also been involved in sales and trouble-shooting for a number of trailer manufacturers.

• BASS DAVIS/SMITH Andrew Davis is Bass's new fleet engineer. He joins the company from Staffordshire County Council, where he organised workshops, and succeeds Jim Smith, who has become engineering manager of Bass Group's national vehicle inspection service. He will develop the service on a commercial basis, making it available to all operators.

• MONTRACON TRAILERS DOWNEY Trailer manufacturer Montracon Trailers has named Ray Downey as nothern sales manager. Based at St Helens, Merseyside, he is responsible for sales from the Midlands to the Scottish borders.

With over 13 years' experience in the transport industry, he was previously European development manager for the John Dee Group and has worked at York, TIP and Trailerent.

• KING TRAILERS HAYNES/RUSSELL/ SMART King Trailers, manufacturer of specialist trailers, winches and public utilities equipment, has set up a new, fully-integrated customer service department, and has appointed Dick Haynes to head it.

He is responsible for improving customer back-up and ensuring that there are no delays in delivering spare parts.

Paul Russell, spare parts specialist, and Richard Smart, customer services administrator, will help Haynes ensure that all trailer requirements are answered efficiently. • TRUCK BODIES MILLINGS Julie Millings has joned Truck Bodies, part of Lex Commercials, as an accountant. Formerly an accountant at British Rail, she is now based at Truck Bodies' Worsley, Manchester base, which specialises in building refrigerated truck bodies.

• CRANE FRUEHAUF MANTON/WILLIAMS/ SIMMONS Crane Fruehauf's new engineering manager is Brian Manton. Responsible for design and drawing functions related to new trailer production and tankers, he reports to engineering and quality-assurance director. Ron Williams. Manton's early training was with Rolls-Royce.

Norman Simmons has left Crane Fruehauf after 17 years' service, most recently as chief engineer. He has set up his own engineering consultancy business in Thetford, Norfolk, specialising in stress analysis, design and engineering problem solving for the trailer industry.

• LAG BUS MUGGLETON The expanding UK arm of Belgian integral coach manufacturer LAG Bus has appointed Peter Muggleton as after-sales manager.

He will develop customer support services. Working on after-sales with workshop manager Mick Rust, he will concentrate mainly on contract maintenance packaged for LAG and other makes.

Muggleton joined the company from Jonckheere UK having worked for Jonckheere and its predecessor, Roeselare Sales for six years. He was responsible for parts and service. Before that he was service manager for Northampton Daf dealer Peter Brown Daf Trucks, having worked in motor trade parts and service since 1965.

• SOUTHWORTHS HARWARDEN/LAMB Jack Harwarden has been made responsible for the purchase of parts and materials at Southworth, the chassis conversion specialist.

Previously he spent 20 years working at Leyland, latterly as materials and production control manager of Leyland Engines.

Sydney Lamb has been recruited as design engineer. Before this he was group liaison engineer with National Bus Company and chief engineer of Ribble Motor Services and Midland Red, having started his career with Leyland.
