CRANE FRUEHAUF has supplied a custom-built GLZ drawbar system to Plane Trucking, a haulage company which specialises in running air freight road feeder services from Britain to Europe.
The close-coupled GLZ unit has been built for a contract Plane Trucking has with Rolls-Royce for the twice-weekly transport of RI3211 aero engines from Derby to Luxembourg, from where they are flown to Seattle, USA.
It operates with a Daf 3300 rigid, which is fitted with air suspension, and the trailer is fitted with Crane Fruehauf's T-type air suspension. Maximum internal dimensions have been achieved by specifying a tilt TIR body which accommodates two engines per delivery run.
Crane Fruehauf has already supplied 10 other trade: the 18-strong fleet, son which are painted in the ries of airline customer: eluding TWA, Cathay P and Air France.
