NATIONAL BUS Company subsidiary Northern General is to get a new chief engineer.

He is Frank Carter, currently chief engineer at another NBC company, Linconshire Road Car Company. He succeeds John Piper, who is leaving NBC altogether. Mr Carter started his career in bus engineering in 1954 with East Yorkshire and moved to Lincolnshire Road Car in 1978. He takes up his appointment at the beginning of September.

James Lockhart has been appointed managing director of the Transport Development Group. He replaces James Duncan, who will continue as chairman and chief executive of TDG. Mr Lockhart has been with the group for 20 years and became a director in 1971 and assistant managing director in 1974.

Volvo Trucks (Great Britain) has named Rik Forrest as fleet sales manager following a reorganisation of the company's sales department.

He was previously Volvo Trucks' area sales manager for the North of England, and before joining the company he was with Volkswagen and Ford Credit. Mr Forrest, who is based at the Irvine headquarters, takes over as fleet sales manager from Ernie Emms, who left to become sales manager of Volvo distributor Rydale Trucks of Chingford.

Renault Trucks have promoted John Joscelyne to the new position of dealer development manager. His former post as area sales mamager for London and the South-East has been filled by Bernard Anderson, who joins Renault from British Leyland.
