MR. L. CHARMAN has joined the board of Henley's Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd. He has been secretary of the company since 1933.
MR. E. H. 0. ELKINGT014 has retired from the board of the British Petroleum Co., Ltd. MR. ROBERT GILLESPIE has been appointed managing director to 1111 the vacancy.
MR. JOHN H. AMERY, formerly general sales manager of Henlys (Bristol), Ltd., has taken up a similar appointment with the Victoria Motor Co. (Bristol), Ltd.
MR. W. L. Maniorr, director and general manager of Pakmount, Ltd., has been appointed a member of the East Midland Transport Users' Consultative Committee.
MR. R. J. ELLERY has succeeded MR. J. W. WOMAR as chairman of the Trent Motor Traction Co., Ltd. LORD BUCKHURST has joined the board. MR. A. BLACK has resigned.
MR. E. J. R. CAPPS has been appointed managing director of E. R. Howard (Ireland), Ltd., a new company formed to market E. R. Howard products in Eire.
MR. WILLIAM FARNORTH, JNR., has been appointed deputy secretary of the North Western (Eastern) Area of the Road Haulage Association. It is proposed that in due course he should succeed MR. WILLIAM FARNORTH, SNR., the present area secretary.
MR. EDWARD M, BENJAMIN has been appointed to promote the sales of the products of Henry Meadows, Ltd., and the Free Piston Engine Co., Ltd., particularly to the oil companies. Both these concerns are members of the Associated British Engineering group, on whose board he continues to serve.
MR. D. L. Frrctm has been appointed assistant traffic manager of thp Trent Motor Traction Co., Ltd. He is at • present assistant divisional manager of the Merseyside area of Crosville Motor Services. Ltd. He is to succeed MR. E. A. PAGET, who has become traffic manager of the Rhondda Transport Co., Ltd.
OBITUARY
VVE regret to record the death of MR. N. McK. COO:SHUTT. Mr. Cockshutt retired from the position of deputy managing director of Leyland Albion (Africa), Ltd., at the end of 1955. He joined Leyland Motors, Ltd., as an apprentice in 1912 and left for South Africa in 1920 as the vanguard of the company, taking charge of their headquarters in Johannesburg in 1933.
