MR. J. A. WILD, A.M.INsr.T., deputy general manager of Lincoln Transport Department, is to retire. He joined Oldham Transport Department in 1911 and left there in 1925 to take up the position of chief clerk with the Lincoln undertaking. He became deputy general manager in 1942. During the war, he lectured on transport economics at Lincoln Technical College.

BRITAIN TO BUILD ROTARY
SNOWPLOUGHS QNOWPLOUGHS having an kJ aggregate of 400 b.h.p. are on order by the Air Ministry from J. J. Johnston and Co.. Ltd., 271, Uxbridge Road, London, W.I2. They will be of the rotary type, there being two rotors to each machine. Each rotor will be driven by a Meadows 135 b.h.p. six-. cylindered petrol engine, the drive being through Vulcan-Sinclair hydraulic couplings.
The design incorporates a feeder rake which makes first contact with the snow and permits high banks to be undercut. A special four-wheel-drive chassis will be used, also powered by a Meadows 135 b.h.p. unit.
The snowploughs are being made in this country by Steels Engineering Products, Ltd.. Sunderland, by agreement between J. J. Johnston and Co., Ltd., and the Bros Company, of Minneapolis. U.S.A.
The tonnage carried by British Road Services in 1950 was 46,524,000 (not 46,524. as stated last week).
