A RESOLUTION expressing concern 1-1. about the way 'in which tipping vehicles were being operated by the Road Haulage Executive has been passed by North Staffs Trades Council. It was decided to invite the R.H.E. to receive a deputation.
Moving the resolution, Mr. C. Dalrymple, of the Transport and General Workers' Union, said that before nationalization, 90 per cent. of the vehicles were run at a profit. He alleged that operators had not conformed with the regulations applying to workers' conditions of service and that now that these conditions were being observed by the R.H.E., the profitearning capacity had become extinct.
