G. E. Papworth and C. P. Scott-Malden have succeeded Sir Wilfred Morton and George Quick Smith whose appointments terminated at the end of last year, as members of the Transport Tribunal. Mr Scott-Malden, 59, who joined the Ministry of Transport in 1939, is a retired deputy secretary at the Department of the Environment, where he was much involved in both road and rail matters. Mr Papworth is the former personnel officer of the National Freight Corporation. He served for many years with British Road Services before moving to the NFC when it was created, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport.

Taking over on January 23 as manager of the International Road Freight Office at Newcastle is Donald Anderson, 38, who succeeds Bob Hughes on his retirement. Mr Anderson is moving to his new job from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre at Swansea, where he was manager of the Driver Inquiry Office. He was previously with the Northern Area Traffic Office.

Joining Southern British Road Services as finance director is Colin Pounds, who was formerly marketing director at Eastern BRS. He joined BRS in 1969 as a research accountant.

Mike Hosier has rejoined the Amersham branch of Southern BRS as manager, and is succeeded as manager of the Dunstable branch by Bill Hayes, who spent 17 years with BRS before leaving for the private haulage sector in 1968.

Dinah Gallop is the NFC's new information officer, in succession to Tom Lawrence, who retired last December. Miss Gallop was formerly assistant group communications manager for Scientific Control Systems (Holdings) Ltd, a BP subsidiary.

Carryfast Ltd has reorganised its senior management team, with Martyn Oldroyd. formerly Northern regional manager, taking over the new position of general manager. The four Carryfast regions are being streamlined into three: Gerry Ellison continues as manager of the expanded South East region, Tony McClellan moves from the Midlands to the Northern region. and a Western region has been created, controlled by \Mke Ferrigan, who was pre viously in charge of the South West region.

Two National Bus Company employees were included in the New Year Honours List: Reg Boothby, a traffic officer (special duties) with Eastern Counties, received the MBE, and Albert Poore, a conductor with Southdown, received the BEM.

Gordon Smith and Michael Muscroft have been appointed directors of T. C. Harrison Ltd.

Mr Smith has for the past three years been managing director of T. C. Harrison (Contract Hire) Ltd and director in charge of the company's fleet sales and self-drive operations, and Mr Muscroft is the director responsible for the group's car and lorry locations in Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

George O'Meara has become systems manager of Dart Containerline, based at the company's UK headquarters.

Nora Bowdler, a sales ledger accountant with National Carriers, has retired after 38 years with the company in Prescot, St Helens and Warrington.

Peter Brewster has movec14 from the agricultural division to the maintenance division of Diversey Ltd as field sales manager.

Colin Burley has become home sales manager for Park Brothers Ltd, based at the company's head office in Blackburn.

Ian Clark has been appointed technical superintendant for the Goodyear Tyre & Rubber Company in Jamaica. He joined Goodyear in 1969 and for the past three years has been technical services manager in Malaysia.

Don Wolfe has become industrial engineering manager at Goodyear's factory in Jackson, Michigan. and A. P. Ricchiuti has become the company's production director in Italy.

Kenneth Fordham has succeeded Peter Rigby as international marketing manager for Europe and the USA with Meadows Airfreight Ltd. Mr Rigby has joined Meadows Airfreight in Australia and New Zealand.

A new position of service manager with Voith Engineering Ltd has been filled by Ian Miller. who joined the company in 1962.

John Walford has become manufacturing director of the Leamington automotive divi sion of Automotive Products Ltd. Sidney Jones becomes original equipment sales director at Leamington.
