Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

UST month Ford announced full details (COMMERCIAL MOTOR, December 23) of how all its commercial vehicles built since 1960 measure up to new braking standards the Ministry of Transport proposes to introduce in January 1968.

In a review of its models back to 1960, Ford stated that all vehicles would meet the proposed "existing vehicle" regulations in respect of the service brake, hut that a degree of modification would be required for some D Series and Trader artics. Details were given of the conversion parts required to modify these models.

However, since this information was compiled Ford has had further discussions with the Ministry on the interpretation of the proposed regulations. From these discussions it appears that the conversions proposed for artics only in the D Series and Trader ranges require minor changes to comply fully with the letter of these proposed regulations.

Accordingly, Ford engineers are now completing the design and test of the revised equipment. A further announcement will be made detailing the content of these artic conversion kits. Ford does not anticipate that this change will cause any delay in the production of the complete kits, scheduled for not later than July.
