British Road Services Ltd. announces that R. Moody is to be contract hire manager, northern district; G. W. Nunn is to be contract hire manager, South Wales district; J. T. Horrocks is to be branch manager, Grimsby; and A. E. Rayner is to be systems analyst, development department, headquarters office.
J. W. Wornar has been appointed a director and elected chairman of Black and White Motorways Ltd., in the place of D. M. Sinclair, who has retired. Mr. Womar has also succeeded Mr. Sinclair as a director of Midland Red's two whollyowned subsidiaries, Leamington and Warwick Transport Co. Ltd. and Stratford-upon-Avon Blue Motors Ltd.
Archibald Prentice, for many years transport manager of St. Cuthbert's Co-op. Assoc. Ltd., Edinburgh, has gone into partial retirement. During the war he played a leading part in the organization of distributive road services throughout the area and for this he was awarded the MBE. He is chairman of the Scottish Co-op. Transport Assoc., and a member of the Transport Users Consultative Committee for Scotland.
P. N. Gray, general manager of the Aldershot and District Traction Co. Ltd., retires on March 31 after 47 years' service in passenger road transport with BET-associated companies. He has been Aldershot's general manager since 1948.
E. H. B. Partridge, a relief depot inspector with London Transport Board, is joining United Transport Overseas Services Ltd. as passenger transport training officer (East Africa). His area will include Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Brian Shepherd has been appointed director and sales manager of AEC Ltd. Mr. Shepherd became South Eastern regional manager in 1954 and in 1962 moved to AEC's headquarters to take over the position of home sales manager. In 1966 he became general sales manager.
New national officer of the commercial services group of TGWU is L. T. Squire, formerly a London district officer in the union's metals and engineering section. He takes the place of K. H. Jackson who became national secretary of the group on the retirement of A. G. (Bert) Beck.
Mrs. Barbara Castle, Minister of Transport, flew to Germany this week for a two-day visit to Bonn and Cologne as guest of the new West German Minister of Transport. Herr G. Leber. She discussed with him mutual problems in the transport field.
James Ramsay has been appointed transport manager of Scottish CWS Ltd., Glasgow, and J. J. Fairley becomes manager of the funeral and hiring departments.

George R. Gay, a director of Scottish CWS Ltd., Glasgow, has been appointed chairman of the newly established transport committee of the Scottish Economic Planning Council. The committee is to consider the co-operation and co-ordination of all departments of transport in Scotland and met for the first time on January 7.
Michael Heath-Wise has been appointed technical services manager to Britax (London) Ltd.
J. Hugh White has been appointed general marketing manager of Armstrong Patents Co. Ltd.; Barrie Hare is now marketing services manager; Stan. W. Mennell has been promoted to service sales manager; and Richard N. Davies has been appointed export sales manager.
Norman Froggatt, formerly works manager at the Weymann factory at Addlestone, has joined the staff of Duple Motor Bodies Ltd. as quality manager at the Hendon factory.
Patrick Mulholland has been appointed chief. engineer and Anthony Hole a sales executive of Telehoist Ltd., Cheltenham. Mr. Mulholland will be responsible for engineering of the commercial vehicle division under William Moats, technical director. Mr. Hole will be based in London to negotiate both home and export sales of Telehoist commercial vehicle products..
B. A. Betteley, who is 69, has retired as transport director of Tarmac Roadstone Ltd. He has also retired from his membership of the TRTA national council and the vehicles committee and highways and traffic committee, Among the many positions he has held with the association since 1948 is that of West Midland divisional chairman, from 1959-65.
