ASPECIAL two-compartment van body has been built by Marshall Motor Bodies, Ltd., of Cambridge, to the order of the Brooks Motor Co. (Newark), Ltd., for the distribution of Ford and Fordson spare parts.
The front compartment. is designed to house engines and is open-sided, whilst the rear section is more conventional .md is for carrying smaller items. The chassis is a Thames 3-ton model,With maker's cab, and the.157-in.•wheelbase has been extended by 45 in. • The composite body is framed in alu minium-faced plywood, with a plywood and canvas roof supported by by fabricated hardWood hoopsticks. The front and rear are fully domed, with • handbeaten light-alloy panels.
In the forward section of the roof there are two hinged pane's to permit overhead loading into the front compartment. Access to this section is also provided by hinged gates on each side, which, in .addition, serve as steps.
On each side of the vehicle at the front is a Handy jib crane of 2-ft. 6-in, radius and 5-cwt. capacity, incorporating Handy hoists and guide pulleys. The cranes are mounted through the
floor on to mild-steel channel crossbearers attached to the chassis frame.
In the rear compartment.three hinged and glazed panels are fitted in the roof.
Pigeon-holes, drawers and open lockers are fitted down each side of the body for carrying smaller spares, and there is standing space for tall articles, such as exhaust pipes and propeller shafts. Access to the rear compartment is by two narrow-section doors hinging back through 180°, and a folding step is provided in the rear skirt.
Mild-steel floor wearing strips are fitted and flashing traffle indicators -are mounted at the front and rear. External finish is in ivory and pale blue, and the interior is in stain and varnish with biscuit-coloured enamel,
