NEW records in mileage and traffic were established last year by the Birmingham and Mid:and Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd. The company's 1,732 buses covered 70,812,454 miles---about 6,000,000 more than in 1948—and carried 438,474,279 passengers, an increase of about 13.000,000 over the number carried in the previous year.
• During 1949, 194 new vehicles were • Introduced. -Twenty-four new services were inaugurated, 14 others suspended during the war were reinstated, and the frequency of 304 services was increased.
• • Road Fund Licences cost nearly £120,000 and fuel tax well over £250,000.
