Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A British firm, Tricom (GB), has developed the Truck Safe warning system to address the safety issues recently highlighted with lorry loading cranes. There are three versions, two currently available with the third expected shortly.

The problems caused by lorry loading cranes being used with incorrectly deployed or stowed stabiliser legs have been in the spotlight following a number of tragic accidents.

The basic five-channel system monitors correct stowage of one pair of stabiliser legs and the crane, while the nine-channel version incorporates an interlock mecha

nism preventing operation of the crane without the legs being extended and locked, A further version, with 17 channels covering an additional pair of legs, is in preparation.

The status of the system is monitored by a 12/24V in-cab display box, with se-test and fault alarm functions. An external siren and beacon are available as extras. Prices vary according to the exact specification and quan tity discounts, but the basic five-channel System will be in the region of E,1,000 fitted.
