iihe phrase "the Russians are coming" does not inspire the same chill it did during cold-war days, but Midlanders must still have been surprised to see a Soviet 155 tank rumbling past their doorsteps last week.
But not one shot was fired. The 36-tonne war machine was being delivered to an exhibition in Coventry by Redhouse Industrial Services of Warwickshire. The tank is equipped with a radiation protection kit; how long will it be before the EC makes such equipment compulsory for all vehicles over 7.5-tonnes? You heard the rumour here first.
