• This week's Commercial Motor sees some exciting changes in the way we present our weekly commercial vehicle roadtests.

The most obvious difference is the use of colour throughout the test. Apart from making the report better to look at, colour has enabled us to improve the way we present information within the test and allows us to make better use of detail pictures of the vehicle.

The other major change concerns the way we compare the test vehicle with competitors we have driven before.

As in the past we will be showing how the rivals fare against one-another on fuel consumption, speed and payload around our test routes.

For the first time, however, we will now be allowing operators to make direct comparisons of likely running costs, including the cost of a basket of fast-moving spares, the servicing downtime for a year's running, and quotes for a year's contract maintenance cover.

All this information will be found together in a simple new table.
