A CREDIT controller with a Ty neside haulage firm has beei jailed for nine months after milk ing the firm of more than £2,001 in five months.

And to maintain his costly Ws Carr began to steal from the firn almost the day he arrived. Hi covered up the thefts, the cour was told, by altering amounts ir cash books and stealing banl statements when they arrived.
Eventually the missing monel was traced, but only after i "massive paper chase by staf and accountants," explaines prosecutor Roger Thorne.
Carr, of Hawthorne Road Ashington, Northumberland, ad mitted four charges of theft anc two of false accounting.
But, the court heard, Carr has deeply regretted what he has done and had already rep's more than £600 to the haulags firm.
