THE BEST KNOWN civil servant in the road haulage industry, Department of Transport head of road freight REG DAWSON, is retiring at the end of next month to become editor of Headlight, one of the monthly magazines serving this sector of the business.
MIKE REID has become distribution operations manager (west) with Watneys London Ltd, having previously been distribution manager with the company's Whitechapel branch in East London. He joined the company in September 1980, after having been distribution general manager with Courage Eastern. Before that, he was with Bass Ireland Ltd.
Reorganisation has resulted in KEVIN NORMAN becoming business development manager with Cleanaway Ltd, after having been director of the waste management division of 1SS Servisystem of Birmingham, which provides a full range of municipal services in Britain, the Middle East, and Finland. He will work from the company's head office at Rayleigh, in Essex.
MIKE HOSIER is manager of Southern BRS Aylesbury branch, having previously been manager of the company's Welwyn Garden City branch. He joined the company in 1958.
At London Transport, CHRIS GARLICK is materials planning manager at the Chiswick bus works, with responsibility for forward planning connected with works and garage spare parts and material requirements. He also deputises for the materials manager (buses). MICHAEL SOUTHGATE becomes supplies manager (bus mechanical and electrical group) at Chiswick with responsibility for provisioning, purchasing, scheduling, and warehousing of parts, and KEVIN TURNER is supplies manager (bus body group).
