Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

weighing over 30cvvt unladen but under 3.5 tons when fully laden. This is run in the course of his greengrocery business. Could you please tell me whether:—

(a) The trailer needs plating?

(b) My friend needs a C licence for either vehicle?

(c) He needs an h.g.v. driving licence? A 17-year-old can drive the combination of Land-Rover and trailer?

A Your friend's trailer is exempt from the

requirements of the plating and testing regulations if "it has no other brakes than a parking brake and brakes which automatically come into operation on the overrun of the trailer". As the trailer weighs over 30cwt unladen a C licence is needed and when operators' licensing takes effect on March 1, 1970, an operator's licence will be required. A heavy goods vehicle driving licence will not be required as the towing vehicle (the Land-Rover), weighs less than 3 tons unladen. A 17-year-old driver can drive the Land-Rover and trailer combination.
