• A letter from RI-IA chairman, Mr Noel Wynn, has been sent to the Chancellor of the Exchequer pointing out the more important problems of the road goods transport industry which "in our opinion can be alleviated or made more intractable by your taxation policy". Rising costs, fuel tax, SET, and the effects of the Transport Act are referred to specifically.
