Castle cuts
• Castle Cement is making a "substantial number" of HGV drivers redundant from its Pitstone and Fadeswood works.
Theft charges • It is expected that 19 people will appear at Grays Magistrates Court on 4 February accused of being part of an alleged crime ring responsible for the theft of 150 trucks (CM 13-19 December).

• A standard for the manufacture of circular electronic tachographs has been published by the British Standards Institution.

Coal contract
• John Dee has won a three-year deal with British Coal to deliver equipment from Sheffield to pits round the country using 27 vans and trucks.
