• The final Omni minibuses came off the production line at City Vehicle Engineering in Shildon, County Durham last week, as remaining orders were completed.
CVE, which was launched three years ago, called in the receiver last month, but continued making the Omni with a reduced workforce. Receiver Price Waterhouse of Newcastle is still hoping to find a buyer for the factory and rights to the design.
The award-winning minibus was popular in the welfare market, but few were sold to commercial operators. A threeaxle design was launched in October.
