Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

COMMERCIAL vehices first registered after August 1, 1977 (Sregistration) must have a sealed and calibrated tachograph by January 1.

This applies to goods vehicles above 3.5 tonnes gvw anc passenger service vehicles (with more than 16 seats including the driver's and not used exclusively on regular services under 5)km).

If this regulation is broken the 'fine can be up to £200. (See CM, December 13, p17).

Though the tachograph must be fitted and calibrated, it does not necessarily have to be used on journeys within the UK. Their use becomes compulsory in a year's time on December 31, 1981.
