THE National Union of Railway men sees the suggestions of th( Armitage Report, whi h wil allow "the setting loose f sups juggernauts to wreak h voc or our roads and lives" as 'almos unbelievable".
"The powerful interes s of the road lobby have prov d once again that they can ove ride al reasoned economic, social anc environmental consider tions,' said general secretary Sic Weighell.
"This Report was supp sed tc establish the rightful place of the lorry in the life of the British people. It will do nothing but add to the already widespread hostility, and an opportuni't way has been lost to move some ay towards the acceptance of , n integrated transport system."
Mr Weighell said that t e inquiry makes a mockery of the overwhelming wealth f detailed evidence presente to it.
"We can't let it rest h re and action must be taken to reject this retrograde Report," he said.
