BRITISH LEYLAND recently repeated its assurances when RHA technical committee members met the company that it took very seriously its responsibility to supply spares.

BLMC representatives emphasized, and distributors present agreed, that it was the distributor's duty to get the required part for the customer.

An RHA technical officer submitted an analysis of 34 vehicle-off-road forms sent to BLMC between February and September which showed delays of up to eight weeks or more between the placing of an order by a dealer and the supply of the part. When the RHA put in a VOR demand on the manufacturer the component was sent within two or three days.

It was agreed that if an operator had placed a firm order with a distributor for a part and before it was supplied the vehicle had to be taken out of service, the order could be changed to VOR priority.
