AN applicant for a Contract A licence at Nottingham on Friday was told by the West Midland Licensing Authority, Mr. C. R. Hodgson, that he had been a terrific nuisance for years over his haulage and Mr. Hodgson added that he would reserve his decision until further inquiries had been made. The Licensing Authority had been told that Mr. K. B. Marshall, of Boston, had twice been fined for licensing offences and was declared bankrupt in 1959. He had applied for
the licence so that he could carry hay and straw on contract to Abbot and Co. (Northern) Ltd., agricultural merchants of Welbourn. Marshall said: "I got into trouble in the past, mainly through trying to pull other people's chestnuts out of the fire. The penny dropped some time ago and now I want to get straight. This work will mean that I can pay off my debts and get discharged as a bankrupt. This is not a fly-by-night job"
