Speaking at the recent annual meeting of AlioBritish Columbia Electric Railway in London, Mr. George Kidd, the general manager, dealt at some length with the question of motorbuses and tramways in Canada. He remarked that there was no doubt that the motorbus had undermined the former strong position of tramways undertakings. In the five years to 1926 the Dumber of passengers using tramways throughout Canada showed a decrease. More recently, however, there bad been a distinct increase in the use of tramways in the larger cities throughout the country, but in the smaller towns the number of tramway passengers continues to decline.
He added that the motorbus is finding its natural sphere as a feeder for outlying lines; whilst it is being, much used for intercity work, supplanting to some extent the inter-urban railway.
