• Truck drivers who do not understand lorry weight restriction signs risk prosecution, a local authority traffic chief has warned.
David Feather, traffic services manager with Wiltshire County Council, says drivers need to be reminded what the signs mean.
"A lorry operator has just asked me to clarify the meaning of a 17 tonnes maximum gross weight traffic restriction," says Feather. "One of his drivers was detected running empty at just over 16 tonnes and is now being prosecuted."
