Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Transport & General Workers' Union is due to meet with Linkman Tankers this week "in a last ditch effort to avoid industrial action" which Linkman's competitors fear could embroil their drivers. Over 500 drivers at the seven remaining Linkman depots which have yet to agree on pay will vote on industrial action unless bids to impose pay cuts of over 25% are withdrawn.

At a ballot at Runcorn 90% of the drivers were in favour of action.

TGWU Yorkshire commercial officer Maurice Britton says: "There has been a lot of interest in the industry about what effects industrial action will have on other tanker firms. A lot of firms in the industry are hoping that if the Linkman drivers do picket they won't take action against them."
