• The Institute of Grocery Distribution and Europanel Database has produced Prospects for After 1993, a study of European manufacturing, retailing and consumption of fast-moving consumer goods.
It shows, for example, that fewer British households own a dishwasher than their French and German counterparts, but that the reverse is true of microwave ovens, tumble driers and video recorders.
