Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Motor industry NMI

• National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) are now available for the motor industry. The institute of the Motor Industry and the Marine and Engineering Training Association have joined forces to provide the qualifications.

IMI members who qualify as certificated or licentiate automotive engineers (CAE or LAE) qualify automatically for an engineering maintenance NVQ Level III, subject to employer verification of competence. Level IV and V awards are planned for management, as is a Level II foundation award.

NVQ is much cheaper than centralised skills testing, it is a uniform national scheme and it attracts Government funding.
