• Scania has deleted its Computer Aided Gearchanging (CAG) option from its righthand-drive truck chassis. The low customer take-up on the original CAG Mkl system has meant that Scania GB will not be taking the improved Mk2 CAG (CM 19-25 Sept 1991).
Scania GB says the decision
to delete CAG follows low sales although the company says: "If someone really wants it, we could probably supply it but very few people want it." The CAG gearbox will still be offered as an option on Scania coach chassis.
Scania hopes to bring in a limited number of left-hand-drive tractive units with 11-litre turbo-compound 295kW (4 Olhp) engines. It will use these vehicles to evaluate right-hand-drive potential, but stresses that ideal buyers will be those engaged in long-haul heavy haulage, where the twin turbo engine will be working at maximum
