county reference library, D T Buckley's letter of Commercial Motor 16-22 July. His complaint that initial enthusiasm was invariably followed by a total lack of courtesy and contact is a symptom of the world we live in, not exclusive to the transport industry. The throwaway society of the 1980s applies equally to people and a lack of thought and consideration is evident all around us.

I, too, have recently cancelled a subscription to a truck magazine. In this case because it didn't have the courtesy to respond to a deeply felt complaint about an apparent inaccurate report. And like Mr Buckley I fear I must say goodbye to Commercial Motor, which I have been buying occasionally for several years and weekly for the past six months until a recent lay-off from work meant I missed a few copies.

I hope, however, Mr Buckley will do as I do and try to keep informed albeit from a distance, of the transport world by using his county library which ought to stock Commercial Motor. I would prefer to keep up to date, but financial and space limitations restrict the amount of material I can afford to buy and store. I'm fortunate, however, in that I still have regular contact with the industry I love, and the loss of one or two magazines will prove no more than a minor inconvenience.

My best wishes for your continued success.
