PUBLIC SERVICES CONTRACT SHOW • Municipal operators thinking of contracting out their transport and waste disposal services could benefit from a trip to the Contracting Out and Public Sector Efficiency Show (COPSES) conference and exhibition at London's Barbican centre on 28-30 October.

Topics under discussion during the three-day conference will include the political implications of competitive tendering, and industrial relations.

Among the companies at the exhibition will be Initial Services, Grundon Group, Team Waste, Trirnoco, Public Service Contracts and City of Bristol Transport Services.

DEFtEG SEMINAR • The Transport Studies Society is organising a one-day seminar on Saturday 21 November, looking at the effects of deregulation on the PSV industry. Bus Deregulation — One Year On will explore the effects of deregulation as seen by operators, including existing companies and newcomers, as well as by public transport planners and consumers.

It will be held at the University of London Union, Malet Street, London WC1, from 10.00-17.00hrs, and will cost t35, including refreshments and lunch.

Among the speakers will be Jo Guiver of Buswatch, Roger Davies of Maidstone & District and John Wilson of Harris Bus.
