MERGER OK
The US Federal Trade Commission has cleared the way for the proposed $1.6 billion merger between Chrysler and American Motors by voting to drop its investigation as to whether the merger is in the public interest, allowing it to proceed. Financial Times, 6 August.
ITEL BUYS FLEXI VAN US transport equipment leasing company Itel has bought the container assets of FlexiVan in a $220m (2158 million) deal which creates the world's biggest container leasing company. Itel now has a fleet of more than 375,000 twenty feet equivalent units (TEUs) — 50,000 more than its nearest competitor.
