II Felixstowe-based Russell Davies has been appointed by Taiwanese container shipping company Evergreen Marine Corporation to handle its UK container haulage work.

To service the contract Russell Davies is spending £1.5 million with Iveco Ford Truck on 50 new vehicles including 30 Iveco 190.30 artics to run at 32 tonnes and 20 twin-steer 220.30 tractive units for 38tonne operations.

The box-bodied 14-tonner is powered by the 6.2-litre 134kW (180hp) turbocharged DNT engine fitted beneath the recently-introduced F220 day cab. Freshgold will use the FA1700 to carry egg products for the baking and confectionery industries.
