Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

P & 0 GROUP member Ferrymasters has bought an initial order of 10 Iveco 220.38 6X2 tractive units for 38 tonne operation.

They have the same 284kW (381bhp) turbocharged watercooled V8 engine as the 4x2 190.38. They have a positivelysteered second axle which is air suspended.

Chassis height of the unit can be varied by the second axle, aiding coupling with trailers, and an automatic load balance between the rear axles has been incorporated. Unlike the Volvo F1224, 6x2, the Ferrymasters Iveco vehicles are not equipped with an air dump facility for maximum weight to be transferred temporarily to the rear drive axle, although Iveco offers it as an option.

The left hand drive units will operate on continental work and have been UK type approved since August 10.

Weight for the unit, including alloy wheels, 88 gallons of derv, and an allowance for fifth wheel, catwalk, lead up ramps and 75kg for a driver is 7,650kgs (7tons 11cwt).

Iveco hopes to supply further 30 220.38 units to Ferrymasters to be based in Holland, France and West Germany, although this will depend on the vehicles receiving the necessary country Type Approval.
