Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

driving licence my employers arranged for me to be medically examined by the company doctor. This doctor did not give me a pass because the eyesight in my left eye with glasses only just comes within the specified limits. My right eye is perfectly in order. I have consulted an optician who confirms that my eyesight is within the required limits.

Can I now go to a doctor of my own choice to get a second opinion so far as completing the medical certificate is concerned?

AYou are quite free to go to your own or

any other doctor for a further medical examination and if you successfully pass such a further examination you can use the certificate signed by this doctor to support your application for an hgv licence. In the event of this doctor failing you on the same grounds, but provided your optician still agrees that your eyesight is acceptable, you can' make application to the Licensing Authority explaining the circumstances and await his decision, The LA has the powers of discretion on whether Or not to grant a licence in such circumstances or he may request further medical evidence before he makes his decision.
