• Mr John Dormand (Labour, Easington) asked in the Commons recently what research the Environment Department had conducted into the relationship between bonus payments paid to lorry drivers and accidents involving those vehicles.
Mr Peyton replied that there had been no research, but he added that drivers employed on piece-work were subject to the same legal requirements as other heavy goods vehicle drivers.
