• John Gibson and Son Ltd, the Edinburgh manufacturer of refuse collection vehicles which recently had a provisional liquidator appointed (CM July 2) is now the subject of a takeover bid.

A spokesman for the company said last week that "strenuous efforts" by the provisional liquidator and others concerned has aroused the interests of a "well-known" English manufacturer of refuse collection vehicles. It was hoped to announce soon that the equity of the existing company had been purchased outright.
