Mr. James C. Chester has been promoted to the new post of technical manager in the drawing office at the Preston factory of Atkinson Vehicles Ltd., Mr. Leslie A. Cavanagh succeed ing him as chief draughtsman. Mr. Chester has been 24 years with Atkinson, eight of them as chief draughtsman. He is aged 55. Mr. Cavanagh, 38, served his time with Crossley Motors Ltd., Manchester and was a designer and draughtsman with that company until joining Atkinson in 1958. Mr. Charles Walker, Mr. John Jones, Mr. John R. This follows the appointment of Mr. Sykes as director and general manager of Uni-Tubes Ltd. and Concrete Formwork Ltd.. an extension of Smith's activities in the civil engineering and building sphere. Mr. W. R. Fairhall gained the Institute of Transport prize for the first place in the associate membership examination of May, 1965. He gained honours with a mark of distinction, a rare feat. Mr. Fairhall recently completed a course of training with the East Kent Road Car Co. Ltd. and is now on special duties.

Mr. S. D. Kay has been appointed to the board of Triplex Safety Glass Co. Ltd. as technical director; he was appointed technical manager in May.

Mr. Alan Rees-Reynolds has been appointed executive joint deputy chairman of Pollard Ball and Roller Bearing Co. Ltd.

Mr. K. E. Tomline has been made managing director of Stenor Ltd. He has spent most of his career in the automotive industry and has latterly been manager of Applied Power Industries inc. (UK).

Mr. Robert A. Cumming has been appointed president of Perkins Engines Inc., of Wixon. Michigan. He joins Perkins from the Cummins Engine Co. Inc., where he has recently been director of off-highway sales.

Lord Erroll has accepted an invitation to join the hoard of Whessoe Ltd. as a non-executive director. New appointments to the boards of companies operating within the Rootes Group commercial vehicle division have been announced by Mr. Rex Watson Lee ----the division's managing director. Mr. F. J. Willard is appointed managing director of Commer Cars Ltd. and Karrier Motors Ltd., in addition to his existing responsibilities as managing director of Dodge Bros. (Britain) Ltd. Mr. G. Kozloff is appointed to the boards of, Commer Cars Ltd. and Tilling Stevens Ltd., while retaining his responsibilities as director of engineering at Dodge Bros. (Britain) Ltd., and as divisional director of product planning. Other new appointments to the Commer -Cars board are those of Mr. W. C. Toll, who is genera/ works manager of Luton and Dunstablei plants. and Mr. G. James, who becoines personnel director of Commer while retaining his responsibilities as personnel director of Dodge Bros. (Britain) Ltd.; and Mr. N. Rodgers, formerly personnel manager, is assuming a senior appointment in the Rootes Group car division.

Mrs. May Allen (May Morrison). daughter of the late A. E. Morrison, Wigston, has retired after 45 years with her father's original engineering firm of A. E. Morrison and Sons Ltd., now Austin Crompton Parkinson Electrie Vehicles Ltd.
