services operated throughout the West Riding by the West Riding Automobile Co. Ltd. will come into effect later this month. Increases approved by the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners will bring in an extra £205,000 a year. It is expected that some 2d., 3d., 44. and 64. existing fares will go up by Id. and all 5d. fares by Id. All fares from 7d. to Is. will be increased by Id., while larger increases will apply to the higher fares.
Commenting on the matter, the managing director of the company, Mr. Harry Watson, said : " Despite the latest increase we still have one of the lowest fare structures in the country.
