A suggestion that, in view of the country's Urgent need for scrap metal, coal merchants operating under C licences should he permitted, during a limited period, to collect it from householders, on vehicles returning to the depot empty after delivering coal, is put forward by Mr, Harrop Mosley, supervisor to Bradford Coal Merchants Association.
He suggests that for this purpose the Government should issue to the coal merchants temporary emergency permits of a month's duration. "The merchants,." he adds, "can deposit their collection with a regular scrap merchant, or in their depots (if room), and what they could get for it might compensate for delays en route,"
