The Board of Trade returns for July, 1937, show that the value of commercial vehicles, cars, chassis and accessories imported was . £468,705,' compared with £233,714 in the same month of 1936.. ImPorts of parts.and accessories also showed a considerable increase, the, value being £221,947, compared with £116,976 in July of the previous year.

Although the number of complete commercial vehiclesexported showed hut a small decline at 329, against 333 in July, 1936; there was a considerable drop in value at £102,351, comparedwith £132,596. This fall is mainly due to a large decrease in exports to the Union of South Africa, the figure being £33,572. compared with £67,028 in the corresponding month last year. There was another considerable increase in exports of commercial chassis, the figure for July this year being 1,549, against 1,108 in July last, year, and the value advancing to £259,839, against £186,949. The rise is mainly due to a big increase in exports of chassis to Afistralia and to foreign Countries.
