• Piggyback wagons between London and Scotland will start running early next year. Transrail wagons will be carrying low-height trailers. Full height trailers cannot be used through British rail bridges and tunnels.
RaiItrack is preparing a full study on infrastructure changes needed for wider piggyback use, while the Piggyback Consortium is asking the European Commission for Trans European Network Funding. This could solve the problem of carrying full height trailers.
