• Hazardous goods operators appear to be unaware of a new EC quality assurance standard for the carriage of dangerous goods.
According to a survey conducted by hazardous goods operator J W Suckling, only 4% of respondents in the hazardous goods industry are familiar with NEN2726, the Dutch standard that is forming the basis of an EC standard, currently work
ing its way through Brussels.
Suckling director Peter Lamer says adoption of a specific hazgoods standard "can enhance the level of service and reduce the number of service failures.
"We have seen a considerable and quantifiable reduction in the number of operational safety incidents since we achieved registration to NEN2726 last year".
