Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Don-Bur will mark next week's Tipcon exhibition and conference with two new tipping semi-trailers: a 47.8m3 all-aluminium lightweight Supalowda for general tipping duties, and a 42.8m3 taperbodied Wastemaster for waste hauliers.

The first of the new Supalowda's, a 9.75m-long, 42.8m3 step-framed semi on SAF axles and air suspension, has a similar frame design to that used in the all-aluminium Alu-Tip chassis for tipping bulk tankers, which was launched last year. It comprises fabricated main I-beams of high-grade N8 aluminium with 150mm-wide top and bottom flanges, Boxsection cross-members are set at three suspension points, with an extra one in the centre of the frame.

Added directional strength is provided by body guides at the front and centre of the chassis.

Stability is looked after by a reduced gooseneck height above the kingpin.

The body floor is of 5454grade alloy, which is said to work-harden during use, extending its service life. Fitted with low-profile 385/ 65 22.5 Michelin wide singles and Alcoa alloy wheels, the first Supalowda, which has been taking part in Foden's nationwide roalshow in the run up to Tipcon, has an unladen weight of 5,520kg.

Its air-brake system is compatible with two/threeline-fitted artic units. It features Anchorlok actuators, Wabco load-sensing equipment and Duron nonasbestos linings.

Don-Bur will manufacture the all-alloy Supalowdas in body capacities up to 57.3m3, but only air suspension will be offered. The chassis will he plated at 35 tonnes gross for use at up to 42 tonnes CiCW should legislation ever allow, and with an axle spread of 1.36m between centres, the rear bogie is rated at 24 tonnes.

Operators have the choice of two or three-axle running gear and lifting or self-tracking axles.

All-alloy versions of the flatfloored Multilowda will also be offered for general tipping applications with body capacities up to 45.9m3.

Don-Bur's Wastemaster refuse body is built on the sloping Paylowda chassis. Its sloping floor and taper-sided body (wider at the rear) offer the good discharge characteristics which are so desirable when tipping off on unmade sites.

The company is also about to supply Dawson Rentals with its first spot hire drawbar outfits.

The combinations will comprise a pair of Eurotrottercabbed Volvo FiOs with Spacemaster II and curtainsided Slide-A-Side bodies on RO-R Flexair-suspended trailers with adjustable Aframe drawbars. They will offer nearly 15m of deck length for high-cube

The Spacernaster bodywork will have Krypton vacuumpressed GRP structural panels, made by Don-Bur's sister company Temperature Controlled Technology (TCT). which are available in sizes up to 7.07x 3.31m. The bodies measure 7.38m and the trailers 7.45m. Top-hung doors allow room for two rows of pallets.

Similar panelling will be used on a refrigerated 12.2m pillarless semi-trailer that will be shown by Don-Bur at this year's 1RTE exhibition. It will have frozen/chilled compartments separated by a moveable bulkhead.

Don-Bur's latest design of lightweight bulkhead for Palletmaster II bodywork has been included in the recently introduced Pillarless curtainsided semi-trailer.

Other lightweight materials include an alloy extrusion for the cantrail with top tracking.

Weight has been saved by using a variable-depth fabricated I-beam chassis with mild-steel webs and hightensile steel flanges. One example. sold to Steetley Transport and running on SAF air suspension and axles, tares out at 6,000kg.
